Judith A. Phillips, a native of South Shore Kentucky, President and CEO of Stand Energy Corporation,
received the Leading Women of Greater Cincinnati 2005
Entrepreneurship Award at its Annual “Celebration
of Women” luncheon that was held March 10th at the Millennium
Hotel in downtown Cincinnati.
Leading Women is a coalition of over 50 diverse women's groups in
the Greater Cincinnati area. In 1995, Leading Women of Greater
Cincinnati began with the mission to celebrate the 75th
Anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution,
establishing a woman's right to vote. “For 11 years, Leading
Women of Greater Cincinnati has recognized women who do
not crave the limelight, are not typically the center of
the spotlight and through contribution to the community
make a significant difference in our lives,” according to
Judy Thompson, President. According to leading women:
“Judith Phillips is the embodiment of the American entrepreneurial
story. Ms. Phillips began her career serving the Columbia Gas System and was the
first female manager. Deregulation in 1984 led Ms. Phillips to start a company to market natural
gas directly to customers, thus co-founding Stand Energy Corporation. Judith has consistently mentored
women while building a leading privately held natural gas company with nearly 100 million in annual sales.”
